Edgar Allen Poe

Born on this day in 1909. It would make him 200 years old today.
Died October 7, 1849 at the age of 40. He lived a rather sad, alcohol ridden life that significantly contributed to his early demise.

While The Raven is one of his most popular works, of all his poetry I lived Alone the best.

From childhood's hour I have not been
As others were---I have not seen
As others saw---I could not bring
My passions from a common spring.
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow; I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone;
And all I lov'd, I loved alone.
