We often hear professional athletes saying things that demonstrate they exist in an alternative universe to us regular folk. Most of the time, we shake our heads and move on.
Unlike other professional sports, the NHL, for all its other failings, expects and more often than not gets its players to be ambassadors for the sport off the ice.
Avery is exception. While the Dallas Stars were in Calgary this week, Avery felt the need to comment on NHL players having a tendency to date other players' ex-girlfirends. He even used that age old bar-stool term "sloppy seconds".
A Calgary Flames player is now dating Avery's ex-girlfriend Elisha Cuthbert.
Ok Avery, first of all Cuthbert is Canadian and I don't appreciate referring to her as damaged goods or sloppy seconds (For all of you who agree, the line forms behind me).
Second of all, you're a moron.
Thirdly, you're classless, tasteless and a dick.
As far as I can tell, the only reason you continue to survive every NHL game you play is for the sole reason that the other NHL players have too much class to lower themselves to your level. Bottom line, you bottom feeder, is you ain't worth it.
I wouldn't suggest you continue to test that theory. Everyone has their limits.
