Federal Budget 2008. Let me get this straight. I am supposed to believe that a $5,000 "savings account" you announced is the most revolutionary thing since an RRSP? Um, Ok Jim.
From what I read today, the earnings on your contribution are "tax free" but not the initial savings. Hmmm. So the average Canadian who would love to to be able to save $5,000 a year after expenses- AND NOT TOUCH IT in order to see any real benefit- is now expected to be excited by this opportunity.
Last year, I think my cumulative interest on savings outside my RRSP was about $65.00.
Wow. I love my government as much as it loves me.
