Life Lesson #1: Never Fish from a canoe

My son and his cousin asked to take the canoe out to do some fishing. Part of being a parent is learning when your kids are ready to assume a little more responsibility. Both are good kids and they were asked to keep close to shore where we could see them and keep their lifejackets on.
Life lesson: 1 canoe + 2 kids+2 fishing rods+large lures with treble hooks= injury.

Some of you may have a trick to pulling a hook out of a rather upset young lad, and we thought we had a few of our own. We quickly learned that all of them don't work at the expense of one tough little guy. Certainly tougher than all of the wives who were now upset at the wisdom we men exhibited by letting them go in the first place.

Turns out the new hospital in town was really nice.
