A group in Germany believes that they may have found a site near the Czech border where a treasure trove of Nazi gold was stashed when the tide of World War II turned against the Reich.
They believe it may also contain the remains of the Amber room, panels of golden amber stolen from Russia.
Apparently, the horde will become the property of the state if found in accordance with German law. Typically, treasure hunters can be rewarded with up to 10% of the proceeds from a find.
Who doesn't like a treasure hunt? Thats the only reason why I watched Into the Blue with Jessica Alba. Honest.
Well, last week when I was digging through my pocket for money for a coffee, I discovered that I had a 1918 Canadian Dime in with the rest of the change. What a find!
That makes my discovery older than that of the German expedition. If there are bars of gold in the cavern, they were probably made from gold stolen from the victims of the Third Reich and melted down into bars. That places their gold in the 1939-1945 window.

Well written blog, so far, Mr. Green!
Hello Master of None,
Your wife knows me... ask her!
Anyway, I intend to take my 11-year-old "war nerd" to see The Rape of Europa (http://therapeofeuropa.com/) at the Bloor Cinema during the coming week.
Thought it might interest you, given your post.
Cheers,
Vanessa
