E=MC2

The only reason I post a picture of the Diva is her new album is called E=MC2.
Don't like her.

It did, however, get me thinking that I have long forgotten why that equation is so famous. So here is your science lesson for the day.

Mass and energy are related. The equation tells you that the amount of energy an object has (E) is equal to the object's mass (M) times the speed of light, C(300,000,000 metres per second) squared. The answer is given in Joules, a measure of energy.

One Joule is about the energy released when you drop a textbook to the floor. But the amount of energy in 30 grams of hydrogen atoms is equivalent to burning hundreds of thousands of gallons of gasoline!

The only way for ALL this energy to be released is for the mass to be totally annhilated or destroyed.

So what have we learned?

If this tubby Diva gets blown up real good (and yes, I said tubby), she would produce one heck of alot of energy, potentially replacing the energy she saps from true music lovers around the world.

Thats right, blown up real good!
