The British Navy Sinks the Bismark
On May 27, 1941, the British Navy finally sank the monstrous German battleship, the Bismark. 2000 German seamen lost their lives.
When the ship hit the Atlantic Ocean earlier in 1941, it posed a huge threat to allied shipping and naval movements. One the British Navy located her, she threw almost her whole navy in pursuit.
While the British battle cruiser Hood and battleship Prince of Wales found it near Iceland, the Hood exploded and sank in the battle that followed. All but three of the 1,421 crewmen were killed.
The Bismarck made a run for occupied France, but three British warships caught up to her on this day in 1941 and kicked the crap out of her, sending her to the bottom of the Ocean.
