H.M.S. Ontario (circa 1780)

Yesterday I wrote about the war of 1812 and the fact that there have been many naval battles fought on Lake Ontario. In early June, another shipwreck was found that is nothing short of spectacular. This one, however, sank in a storm during the U.S. Revolutionary War on October 31, 1780.

The 80-foot vessel is one of the more ornate to be found in the lake. These photos are from National Geographic's website.
