Who is killing the Gorillas?

Another 4 mountain gorillas were found dead this week in the Congo. They had been shot and authorities have no idea who is responsible.

The current global population of these beautiful apes is estimated to be in the area of 700. So far this year, 7 animals have been killed, including one mature male silverback. That means since January 1, 2008, one percent of their population has been killed in about 10 weeks.

In human terms, if there are 6.6 billion people on this earth, that would be the equivilent of exterminating 6.6 million people over the same ten week period.

Hello, United Nations? Hello, anyone? Could you get some help down there please?
